Ladies Night

Ladies Night at our Local Mitre 10 Store

My best friend and I went to our local Mitre 10 store tonight for a Ladies Night.

Doors opened at 6pm where approx. 200 ladies started with beautiful nibbles from Sails at the Blue Lagoon and wines from Red Earth Winery.

Then it was off to 5 presentations:

Yates & Selleys - Gardening and New products
Fix-a-tap - help with changing tap washers in the house. (Where I won a pen/radio)
Dulux - Latest information on colours & decorating
Bosch - Power tools for DIY projects
DIY Storage Solutions - Neat & tidy storage around the house.

It was a great informative night with a wonderful relaxed & informal feel topped off with a heart icecream for dessert.

I bought a new part to fix my noisy toilet - should be able to do this myself and I'm pumped after installing my own dishwasher recently.

And I was on strict instructions, from the kids, to buy a new Optic Christmas Tree.

We were even presented with a free sample bag on the way out. Oops we left before the lucky door prize. This is what I ended up with. The t-shirt will be my new nightie for a while and the pen/radio will be great when I get back into my morning walks.

You are quite the Mrs Fixit. There is a great sense of achievement in being about to do things yourself and not rely on "a man"

What a great evening and I love the whole idea of learning how to do home repairs yourself. It's funny you mentioned a toilet repair you need to make. Yesterday I tried to repair the tissue paper holder and the whole thing fell off onto the floor. I was contemplating what to do next when my husband walked in the door froom work. He said, "June Honey, maybe you should let me do that." Oh, I was so embarrassed. So, I need to take some classes like yours.

I like the free sample bag things you got and that t-shirt will be a great nightie.

Sounds like a wonderful night. Its such a great idea. I like to fix things myself as well. There is not always a man around to do these things, and most of the time, its just easier to have a go myself. Congrats on winning the pen/radio.
Let us know when you have changed any tap washers.

This sounds like fun! Girls NEED to be able to get together and learn how to use power tools and stuff, right? And if they throw in ice cream at the end of the night how could you not attend? :)
